MAGNIFICENT C1813 ARDEN FAMILY GENTLEMANS CAMPAIGN DRESSING BOX GEORGIAN SILVER
A rare and exceptional box.In Maccassar wood with brass furnishings.Recessed handles,with a leather under top which hides the original Georgian mirror.The tops are all original hallmarked silver C1813.The corkscrew,shaving brush,boot pulls and cut throats are also completly Georgian and original.Each of the silver tops,is engraved in great detail with the Arden family boar crest.The Ardens are one of Englands three oldest recoded familys,being able to directly trace there history to Anglo Saxon, England.This could have been made for Richard or William Arden,both became Baron Alvanley.Richard was the last Baron.The date 1813 is relevent to both.William and Beau Brummell held a Masquerade ball for the Prince Regent.Richard in 1813 seved in the Hussars,at the Peninsular war.As an officer he would have needed a box like this.Take your choice.

FAULTS, Three glass bottles are probably replacements (the tops are original).Prof repair to a veneer split near a rear hinge.
